It holds just about one week’s worth of trash. We live in a rural area that has trash pick up only once a week. By the time of the last day before garbage pick up, I sometimes need to use another trash bag for that day’s trash. I don’t know what I would do without this trash compactor. I recommend it. There are only two adults in the household and very little trash. The gear, sprocket, and chain came off and disassembled itself. What a mess!!. Eight years usage by two people hardly makes it worth the 0 we spent on it. Wallace (Centennial, Co USA) – See all my reviews    This review is from: Whirlpool : GX900QPPS 15 1/3 hp Undercounter Trash Compactor Stainless Steel While we like the performance and look of the unit, the engineering of the toe kick control has much to be desired. When working, the compactor exceeded our expectations for sound, compacting, and ease of use. We have had this compactor installed for three years and replaced the Toe-Bar Drawer Opener twice. First under warranty at 11 months, and then at our own expense 9 months later. When it failed a third time, we contacted Whirlpool … they admitted this was a problem and offered to sell us the redesigned part. Whirlpool’s position was that the unit was out of warranty. The new part was completely redesigned and had to be custom installed (including drilling new holes on the right side) by contractor for 0, completely changed the way the Toe-Bar Drawer opener works. Instead of a long kick plate, it is a square kick button on right hand side. If this were a car, it would be recalled. Shame on Whirlpool for charging us based on their own bad design. Buyer beware.
