There are a great number of contradictions, and untrue statements. I realize that this is a first edition, but I can not believe that any knowlegeable fire service personnel reviewed this book before it was published. The IFSTA 2nd edition or Brannigan’s 4th edition are both much better choices. To the fire chiefs out there that are choosing books for promotional exams: Do not choose this one! I couldn’t wait to get to the end. The trouble is, now I have to go back and try to make sense of the many contradictions and mistakes. The worst part is that a great deal of basic and important information that should have been included was left out. Nobody could say that they know everything or else that they are self-confident 100% in each areas of “Knowledges”. For my part, building construction was (and is still!) an area that I have to study hard. This book, is an excellent tool. Even if my primary spoken language is french (I sure have some basis in english…), I can say that I have improved my knowledge of building construction with the help of that great book!
